 The physical begins with hands-off observation of the patient’s movement and gait, followed by attention and soothing interactions to gain patient trust. Dr. April’s approach to the physical examination is somewhat unconventional as she will usually perform her examination on the floor with your animal companion, rather than elevating a patient to an uncomfortable, cold table surface. The physical exam is a thorough nose to tail evaluation of the patient’s physical health.
